Gemini is making moves and shaking up the crypto world once again! The US-based cryptocurrency exchange just announced its plan to expand its presence in Asia with the establishment of a new engineering hub in India. And get this: it’s going to be the company’s second-largest hub outside the United States!
Gemini’s new office will be located in Gurgaon, India, and the exchange has already started looking for software engineers and technical product managers to lead their efforts in Asia. The CEO of Gemini Asia Pacific, Pravjit Tiwana, explained that they chose India as their next destination because of the country’s “tradition of engineering excellence.” And with the center in Gurgaon, they’ll be able to develop next-gen web and mobile user experiences and introduce feature sets for NFT and crypto marketplaces.
Gemini’s expansion plans come at a time when regulatory uncertainty in the United States has caused many American crypto firms to consider relocating. Coinbase’s CEO, Brian Armstrong, recently urged the authorities to provide clarity and regulation in the space to prevent companies and talent from being built in offshore havens.
Gemini’s move is part of the exchange’s strategy to grow its international business and capitalize on the increasing demand for crypto and Web3 products. As Gemini APAC’s CEO, Pravjit Tiwana will be responsible for launching and expanding region-specific products and services, leading go-to-market strategy, and managing profit and loss.
Gemini’s decision to expand in Asia is a sign that they believe in crypto’s resurgence, especially in the APAC region, which has proven to be one of the largest crypto markets in the world. And with Gemini’s big plans for international growth this year in APAC, it looks like they’re ready to take on the world!
