Blog: Following my passion did not get me paid

In that transitional phase between adolescence and adulthood, I stumbled upon something I was truly passionate about. It wasn’t just a fleeting interest; it was something I excelled at, something that ignited a fire within me. So naturally, I pursued it with all my heart.

The Rewards and Challenges

Following my passion has been a rewarding journey, no doubt. It opened doors to new experiences, led me to meaningful opportunities, and even secured me a job that I’ve been dedicated to until now. However, it’s essential to acknowledge that this path also came with its fair share of struggles.

The Financial Struggle

One aspect that I grappled with was the financial aspect. While my passion enriched my life in many ways, it didn’t shield me from the financial challenges of the real world. In fact, it sometimes felt like I was lagging behind my peers who took more conventional paths to financial stability.

Reflecting on Choices

Looking back two decades later, would I make the same choices again? Probably not. The lack of guidance or mentorship during my formative years left me navigating rough waters. I wish I had someone to offer practical advice and perspective.

A New Chapter

Now, after years of dedication, I’m on the brink of completing my degree, after 3-years of part-time, something I put on hold for my passion. With this qualification, I aim to elevate my career prospects and secure a more stable future. Plus my moonlighting job, I hope to stack more Sats, hoping there is a bump in my salary.

I hope I pass my final 3 papers, and hoping this will be the last walk through this passage halls to the Exam Centre

Words of Wisdom

To the younger generation embarking on their journey, I urge you to have candid conversations with mentors, parents, or trusted figures before diving headlong into your passions. While passion fuels our spirits, a balanced approach considers long-term implications.

In Conclusion

Following your passion is exhilarating, but it’s also wise to have a roadmap that aligns with your aspirations and responsibilities. It’s never too late to recalibrate and set sail towards a future that blends passion with pragmatism.
